If you look throught the rio website they have a couple of memory card based players, a cd mp3 player, a really good car player. What they don't have is a small hard disc based player along the lines of the creative jukebox

Seems pretty probable.... :) Should be "fairly easy" to modify the empeg design for something like that.

I just hope that it will use a software decoder so that it can support new formats, otherwise you could just call it a PJB or Treo under another name (and probably without the bugs)

I think something more interesting would be a more modular player.. it could basicaly be a removeable drive bay, that you could switch between car, home, and portable... that would be something I'd almost replace my empeg with :)

Reminds me of the scene in the movie "Dick", where Woodward and Bernstein are trying to confirm names from the informants. They come up with the idea that they'll say a name, then wait ten seconds. If there's no reply, then that's the confirmation. The problem was that the informants got interrupted during the call...
