I'm about to sell all the DirecTiVos in my collection. After rounding them all up, I thought it would be cool to take photo of them in a stack. Someone else might think it's interesting as well.

Nice! Does this mean that you're switching to FIOS or something?

I just had a garage sale this weekend, and the two units I had (one of each of the doubles you have in that photo) failed to sell. I didn't bother with advertising them on Craigslist separately, though.

This reminds me I really need to do some tweaking on our Hughes series 2 DirecTV Tivo, we are not making as much use of it as I think we could.
Sigh, as alway time is required.

Rob, what Tivo don't / didn't you have?

No, I just don't have any non-HD receivers on my account anymore. I never operated all these at once. A bunch of them have been in storage for a number of years.

I've actually never had a stand-alone Tivo. I think I've had, or at least worked on, every possible DirecTiVo model.

I wonder if they're worth much, both given DirecTV's moves away from TiVo and toward HD (and MPEG4). I'm modestly annoyed that my Series-2 HD-TiVo (HD10-250) is effectively obsolete. On the other hand, I'm enjoying my Series 3 HD-TiVo, which happily connects to my home network and lets me extract shows, etc.

What annoys me now, of course, is that Comcast is a pretty lame provider. I was thinking that I'd now be immune to bad weather. Indeed, the quality of my video doesn't correlate much with the weather, but it's still quite variable, only now it's variable for no good reason.

I tell 'ya, it's really tempting to cut the cord and become a Netflix family. Really, really tempting.
