I have some songs from german artist on my empeg.
The problem is that there are some german characters which the empeg doesn't show (it shows a space in the title).
Is there a way to change the font so it can show also special characters?

Which characters are they?

I'm swedish and we use the åäö (a-ring, a-umlaut, o-umlaut)
which are shown correctly. I also have some songs from
Blümchen and the ü (u-umlaut) is shown correctly.

That'd leave, AFAIK, the ß (double-s, s-sharp) which I'm just about
to test here. Grrrr... emplode froze, had to kill it, player is
rebuilding... and a fsck...

It could be a question of which character set you're using.
When I import the CSV file into Access the åäöü etc get displayed as
other characters... while they're shown correctly in my ripping and
tagging software (AudioGrabber, DrTAG).

The fsck is taking a %#$##^%&! long time (anyone for ReiserFS?) so
I'll get back to you once I get a song with an 'ß' onto the empeg.

Ok, the ß displays correctly too...

And a big DUH! You're talking about the Infotex visuals aren't you?

Here's some talk on the issue, but I don't recall a solution to the problem...

What happens when you try and search for it? Does it match "s"? (I'm pretty sure the accented characters match the unaccented versions.)

The player and the Info visuals (at least in 1.1, I'm not sure about 1.0x) use ISO8859-1.

If anyone can figure out how to get Samba on Linux serving 8859-1 filenames to Windows 2000 properly, let me know.

Peter

Special characters, such as the Ö in "Blue Öyster Cult", do not display properly in the "Info Tex" visuals in version 1.0x.

This is a bug and it will be fixed in version 1.1, due out soon.

Oops... as it was a copy of a song with altered ID3 tags, I've already
erased it...
But, yes, I'd expect it to match an 's'. I know that åäöü matches aaou
and I have a few accented n's, i's and e's that match their base
character too.

Surprise!
The characters I mean are ä ö ü Ä Ö Ü ß.
They are shown correctly in emplode but when I play them on the empeg the characters are not displayed.
So I wonder what I have done wrong.
You say that on your empeg they are displayed correctly.
I've the Development Image 1.02 running but the error has been in all versions so far.

You need to be very specific about it when you say "are not displayed".

As I said in my other reply, if these characters are not appearing in the InfoTex visuals, this is a known bug that will be corrected in version 1.1.

So I wonder what I have done wrong.

Probably nothing. Like I said, it's a known bug.

You say that on your empeg they are displayed correctly.

He said that they display correctly in the regular information screens. You need to be very specific: Are the characters missing from the "Info: Track" and "Info: Now and Next" screens on your Empeg? Or are they just missing from the "InfoTex" visuals? If they are just missing from the visuals, then, like I said, that is a known bug.

I didn't realize that I need to be specific.
You're right.
They are just not displayed in InfoTex Visuals.
The regular screen shows them correctly.
I just thought they use the same characters in both fonds that's why I don't know I had to differ between this two modes.
Also I just use the InfoTex visuals so I never noticed they are shown elsewhere till you told me in your post :-)

Just for information purpose: is it possible to edit or change the font used by the info text visuals?
