Don't forget (as if you could ) that the 2nd European Empeg Owner's meet is this weekend, on Sunday the 27th May. The day starts at 11 AM, so for those of you teetering on the brink of that long car journey and still haven't yet decided - now's the time!

Big prizes, lots of events, the empeg crew (and special guests), good company, good food, and looking out the window now it's going to be good weather too!

So come along and collect that beer I owe you (you know who you are) and have some fun - it's the place to be this weekend!

Don't be square, see you there in Emiclaer!

Yeah, but are we going to be able to watch the Monaco Formula One Grand Prix, or at least catch updates during the race?

Blimey, Paul, you were quick off the mark!

We've just finished the last beers (12:30) and everyone's gone home/crashed. What a wonderful day - thanks to all who came, you made it very special!

Hey, no one has said what the really great prizes were yet! Michael got a Rio/Nike mp3 player for travelling the longest distance to the meet (over 900km from Sweden!) Frank van G. got a Rio Volt for the best install and Lars got a Rio 600 for the best sound Oh, and they all got really nice certificates that Rob S organised (Rodger even got one from Merry for just being "Drop Dead Gorgeous"!) Well done guys :-) There were also Rio fleece pullovers, Rio shirts, various T-shirts, empeg mugs, CD openers. Really cool stuff! Thanks very much guys for organising such great prizes!!! And thanks to all who turned up. Was great to catch up with the folk who were there last time, and to meet some new empeg owners from all over Europe (Denmark, Sweden, Belgium, The Netherlands, England, Germany ... hope I didn't miss anyone out!) Hope to catch you all again in October! and hopefully a few of you others who didn't make it this time! Ciao Derek

Wow!

You folk must have had a great time! Thanks for the photos Paul. Could you throw some captions in sometime?

OK. Now we want details!!!! What was 1.1 like & did it do more than we wanted? What new visuals are in it?
Can we have an attendance list?
Will there be a complete report on the geek site?

Were you all forced to sign an NDA before you could attend?
sorry about all the questions....

I noticed in one of Paul's pictures there were 2 empegs (sorry, RioCars ) and a Receiver on a desk. The visual on one of the empegs looked like one of those heart monitors. Is that one of the new visuals?

I wish I could have made it this weekend...

...I'm taking some annual leave in October for sure!!

Are there details somewhere about the October meet or am I being too hasty? I've missed the previous ones ( always seem to find out about them a couple of days before ) and would love to attend the next one.

Glad to be of help.

if anyone's interested, I'm still alive after goodwood. Someone managed to total their £50,000 Nissan Skyline though! .

I'm not intending to do captions, unless you guys send me some.

There were a lot of other people taking photos - if people want me to host the pics I can....

Pity none of my candidates for the install/sound won, but hey...

Hope the evening went well and that you guys didn't drink too much!

I'll definitely be staying over next time - my insall is going to be coming along nicely, so should be a giggle - at least I'll be eligable for most of the comps, this time!

Paul.

Given the sucess of this weekend, and the generally laid-back, friendly atmosphere everyone enjoyed (in spite of the weather ), there are already plans afoot for an...

...empeg owner's WEEKEND sometime around the start of October!

Are you ready for the next step????

Following a few discussions here, it seems as if we will be instigating the annual Fabris awards at the next empeg owners meet in October.

In spite of the jokey nature of the original post (see above), I am serious - so I am going to start the competition for main award of the first annual Fabris (TM) * awards, now!

This award will be for the Best 3rd Party Software (specifically written for the empeg). Heads up, all you software engineers (and hackers) out there (approximately 99% if this weekend's statistics are anything to go by ). If you have written, or are thinking about writing, that wonderful piece of software that you just know will make the empeg rock, then get started. Final submission date for your software will be one calender month before the announced event date of the October meet. Judging will be by ballot on the day by the attendees, and there will be a quality prize on offer along with a special trophy.

So get busy - you have approximately 4 months to produce something. To be eligible, at least one released version of your software must have been made publically available before the closing date of the competition, which will be announced before the event. Good luck!

* As long as Tony doesn't mind, of course

Hey, as long as you spell it right, I can't object.

And get Rob V. or Hugo to tell you how I pronounce it.

Yes, that's the way I pronounce it.

Technically, it's not correct, as there aren't any silent "S"s in Italian, but that's the way I say it.

Hello,

I'll look forward to listening to your system. Then I'll probably bring a car with 4 tweeters, not 3 :)

I think this means they have to develope a program better than displayserver?
Nearly impossible!
But I have to admit that I really don't know anything about the other programs around :-))
