...and I can't see a way of getting into the thing to check the fuse - is this possible, or should I resort to my trusty combination of chisel and hammer?

(Brute force and ignorance every time, that's what I say!)

It's a UK one, for what it's worth, and appears to be completely sealed. Maybe I'm being stupid. Wouldn't be the first time...

Not that it really matters - I've got a couple of other power bricks that work with it (though I think one is a little under-powered, 'cause I keep getting the battery symbol appearing - not likely to hurt it, am I?).

Bry.

Don't bother -- there probably isn't a fuse inside of it anyway (maybe a fusable link?) and if you go here you can find a very serviceable replacement for just $6.50. Of course shipping to U.K. will probably run you about twice that amount, so maybe for you it isn't such a good deal after all.

But for anybody looking for a few empeg-compatible power supplies, these work very well, the company is reliable and ships very quickly and is even good about answering email quesitons about their products.

If you've got a mk2, you're obviously within the 1 year warranty, so contact support and we can get another one out to you.

My power brick also died today, but I am not sure warranty claim is worth the trouble. I have a spare IBM ThinkPad power supply, and empeg seems to like it.

I found it no trouble at all - just the usual impeccable service! Nice to see things haven't changed since the move to SonicBlue...
