Hi,

I had to rebuild my empeg with a new hdd recently (the old drive died..) - everything went well (replaced two 30gb drives with one 80gb drive, took 2+ days to fill it up..) - BUT

Now, when I turn the car off, it doesn't turn off:( Did something change in hijack? I was running an old build from years ago.. Just updated (since I had to, rebuilding.) to the latest as updated from jemplode, 508? )

In hijack, the force ac/dc mode is set to normal, yet it detects it as ac/home (instead of dc..)

I'm also noticing that brightness doesn't turn down when I turn on my headlights.. (obviously nothing's changed w/ the car dock/wiring..)

Any ideas? This is on an mk2 (originally 2x30gb drives)

btw - I'm running the 2.0.1 empeg software w/ hijack on top. built using car2_v2.01_hijack.upgrade then updated to latest hijack with jemplode.

On a personal note, I can't believe this bbs is still active, that's awesome! and Mark - I can't believe you're still updating hijack - you rock!

Hi dude!

If your player is truly set for "normal" AC/DC detection, then the power connector (AC adapter jack) may be b0rked. This would explain why it thinks "AC" when in the car.

..But shoudln't forcing it to dc mode fix this? (I've forced it to dc mode/rebooted, but it still has the same issue..:( )

actually; it's working now - I think forcing dc mode *did* cause it to behave correctly...

Someday, you could replace that dead AC-adapter jack, but I think it's mostly harmless in the meanwhile.

There are other unwanted side effects of a malfunctioning AC jack. For example you can't pull the player out of the dash without sleeping it by hand or else it will make a loud pop from your speakers. It's just a pain. See if Eutronix can fix of for you.
