Hey all-

A few friends have expressed interest in going up to my property and do some shooting. Sounds like fun to me! We're going to do it
SATURDAY, MARCH 14TH
Gate will be open by 11AM.

I've done some plinking at my pond- it's secluded and the bullets and pellets will go into the hillside safely.

I've got two pellet guns and loads of pellets. Other friends have larger weapons, some have airsoft guns. Anything is welcome. Well, anything but paint guns. No paint guns.

The gate is two miles north of the intersection of Mines Road, del Puerto Canyon Road, and San Antonio Valley Road.
clicky mappy

I'll have a barbecue grill ready to cook on and I'll be spending the night up there, if anyone wants to camp out. Some plinking will be going on Sunday morning, too, if that fits your schedule better.
Bring your own food, drinks, etc, and a gun, if you have one, ammo, targets.

Keep it safe!

Distance?
Ranch location?
or shooting distance?

I'm by no means knowledgeable of target shooting standards. I usually have enough fun shooting between 10 and 20 yards.
If you want to walk further to reset the cans and bottles, of course there's room for longer distances than that. We might have to scout out something, but I'd consider the scouting more fun.

Shooting distance, I have a 22 target rifle that will put 10 rounds in a .25 inch hole at 50 meters.

Wow, Glenn- that's pretty awesome!

Well, my ranch is about 110 acres, so I'm sure we can find something with some distance to it.
Most of the access is ridge-top, though, and I thought that the pond (being in a basin) would be safer wrt strays.

The pond is triangular and I usually shoot along the shortest side when it's dry. Of course, the rain has filled the pond, so access along the long sides is limited because of the steep terrain and wet earth.
Possible, though.

Check it out in Google Earth:

Phew- what a day!

We had 10 people and more than twice that number of firearms. It was not a good day to be a cola can!
I'll put some pics up tonight.
