Hi everyone,

Can you tell I just installed my empeg in the new ride? :-)

Anyhow, I've got a drive failing. Is there any reason not to install 2 of the WD2500BEVE drives that Ross is using? I read the big disk builder thread and it seems to work. These things are only $80 now!

Anything I should be concerned about, like running out of memory during player operation? Even with the FID patch, are there potential issues with 500GB of storage?

Thanks!

Jim

Use the builder_v4 image when formatting them, which will reduce the memory requirements for building and for later use in playback.

Hi,

They just keep a runnin'.

I have several of them in Empegs and they get alot of spin time with my mostly .wav music database.

I only had to change the cache reserve in my Config.ini file with the larger database to avoid the NOMEM Error. Maybe now that isn't neccessary with Mark's new 4k file block size modification. Might still be though as it is Player RAM Memory, Mark?

I paid $125.00 each for mine in blocks of 4.

Looks like the 320's might be out now.... Ahh, what should I do now? I guess it would be a good test to see the unlimited storage capacity of the Empeg as modified by Mark <grin>.

I imagine that will still be necessary, though perhaps with a smaller reserve than before. But if it works, no need to fiddle with it!
