I'm starting this thread because I just put through an order for this base station.

It seems like some people had issues at first but I'm seeing positive reports coming in. My Macbook Pro still hasn't shipped frown and I was hoping I'd get this new order around the same time next week. But at the Canada Apple Store this unit is supposed to ship only in 7 to 10 business days. Arrgh, the US Apple store says only 24 hours.

In the meantime, I've also confirmed that my order for one of these other units is on schedule and should be here in about five months.

Hopefully I won't have a problem with Quality of Service with this one and potentially require add-ons. I know it's going to require some localization support as apparently it ships with no default languages pre-installed. I've already been told it's got to have at least Portuguese and English support as soon as possible.

Thanks guys. Incidentally, that's not actually the ultrasound of my child. I didn't have that image handy tonight so I just pulled a generic one off the net.

Besides, my kid has a bigger penis. I just hope it's a boy.

What kind of warranty does that unit come with?

I got one that was DOA last year... still haven't received a replacement.

I've cancelled the order for the Airport Extreme and instead bought a 500GB Time Capsule. The main reason is that Apple still doesn't officially support external disks on the AEBS for Time Machine, yet they seem to for Time Capsule.

The other idea I had was to remove the included drive and replace it with a cable to connect an external RAID1 box via SATA. I've found the parts I need (an SATA gender changer and SATA to eSATA cable), but I haven't read about anyone else doing this yet. Obviously this mod wouldn't be officially supported and would likely void the warranty.
