Hi

Has anyone tried or considered implementing an Internet Radio app for the empeg? Something with a "station" browser tied into, say, the shoutcast or icecast directories, bookmarking, etc. My empeg spends most of its life indoors plugged into the LAN - would love to tune into internet radio stations with it.

Is it possible to (easily) switch between the main player app and another app (or launch either one at a time)? Would that be the best approach?

It's more or less do-able right now, if I recall correctly.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you'd do it this way: You replace the empeg's firmware with the "receiver version", where it it acts like a Rio Receiver. Then on your network server, you set up one of the third-party Rio Receiver servers that serves up your favorite internet radio stations.

Would I be correct to assume that doing that will replace the Empeg functionality completely, ie. network-only playback?

I want both. smile

I don't see why it wouldn't be possible to do what you want including switching to and from the main player. Nobody has actually done it however.
