A few weeks ago, ifixit mentioned Pleos on their twitter stream, and I got one. I had a Roomba, a robomower... why not a Pleo? Well, damn, these guys are cute, and if I lacked the ability to get a cat (we'll have one soon) I'd probably be entirely captivated. I'm curious, who else has one?

I saw Pleo awhile ago and was surprised by how advanced it actually was for a toy. I can't really justify buying one at the moment though because I know it'll just gather dust.

The company that makes them (Ugobe was it?) also files for bankruptcy a little while back. Not sure how that dust settled nor if anyone picked up the Pleo IP.

IMO *way* too expensive.

Jetta (the manufacturer) bought it at the auction. Yeah, the price would be a bit burdensome; Amazon had them for $159 new but someone local had some for $110, and "non-functioning" for $40. The extra I got in case I needed parts turns out to work except he needs a battery.

At $100 not too bad. But weren't they over $300 before the financial started (publicly) looking bleak at Ugobe?

Retail was $350, I think. Oddly, I'd never heard of them at that point.
