Any long time Christmas light users that have tips to share ?

I have put them up along the roof line two years and both times they have gotten ice build up and the whole 70 feet comes crashing down.

I have been using the plastic shingle clips that slide under the edge of the shingles.

There must be something better I don't know about.

Indoors, inside/around the windows, LEDs, low-wattage digital timer.

Planet friendly, yet still cheers up the dark winter nights.

I put them on the outside, but clipped to the outside edge of a rain gutter. No ice build-up. LED with a warm-white glow that looks like traditional bulbs. Not that that part has anything to do with the mounting or ice. smile

I have lights in the windows too smile

When these stop working the next set will be the LED kind we'll see if these survived the fall this year after I drag them in the house to thaw.

All I have been able to find online for hanging has been the plastic "gutter" clips. I do not have gutters so the clip instructions tell you to stick them under the shingles.

I'm sure the problem is the ice build up don't know what I can do about that though.

Don't know about the fastening, but you should try this.
