Though my MkII was my faithful companion in my station wagon, sadly years ago (About 6 or 7) the wagon had to be put down.
The MkII sat in my closet until recently.
So I've dusted it off, installed 2.01, the latest Hijack. Remembered that my IDE cable was suffering from a bad crimp, fixed that, and then remembered my knob was of the "needs replacement" variety.
Sadly, no amount of software de-jumping will make the knob usable.

So. I know I can get a new knob, and I know my soldering skills are of no use for such small componentry.
Is Eutronix still functioning?
Can I send my Empeg in for repair of the knob?
Can I get them to do a lighted buttons install, and are tuners still available from them?
How about docking sleds?

I wouldn't mind a "Full-Meal-Deal" upgrade.
Larger disks I will handle myself.

After dusting off my Empeg, I can't believe I went for so long without one, and the fact I've used iPods in my vehicles. Wow. Even after all these years, the Empeg is still one awesome unit.
I would love to install the Empeg into my Dodge Pickup, and possibly my Jeep, though the Jeep install will require more shock isolation, and a waterproof housing as well.

Honestly, I can't believe that 10+ year old technology still beats the pants off "modern" technology.

Here's to another 10 years!! grin

Your location says "Canada", so you can save a bundle on shipping and give it to me for repair/return. I'm based in Ottawa, though if you happen to be in Toronto and online just now.. you should contact me immediately as I'm "in the neighbourhood" until the morning. smile

Cheers

Would you like to be officially added to the FAQ entry about repairs, Mark?

Just for Canadians. Shipping from here to USA and back again is simply prohibitive for most of us.

I'm also the "repair of last resort guy", but if that goes in it will have to emphasize last resort. smile

In communication with Eutronix.

Mark: You have any tuners lying about ??
Also, I am in Canada, Calgary specifically, quite a bit further "down the street" than Toronto! laugh

Yes, I do have a factory tuner that's laying on the shelf and not being used. Repairs are straightforward: generally a $25 flat charge or so for the common, "easy" stuff, and cheaper rates than anyone else for the rest.

Pretty much anything you want/need for your empeg, for folks in Canada specifically. Email me to set it up. mlord at pobox daht com.

Cheers

I'd be willing to volunteer for US repairs if anything but for redundancy. I'm in Illinois... I've already fixed a couple of them and mod'ed my own.

Well, it's been a year since I resurrected the ole gal.

Since then, I've been cobbling together the parts required to do an install in my truck, very slowly I might add.
Sub box, amps, cap have been procured. Still require subs, speakers, steering-wheel controls adapter, misc shop supplies, fuses, and some sort of two-way RCA gang-bang adapter so I can use the Sirius or an ipod (gasp I know, but others have tunes on their portables, and it would be nice for them to "jack in" with little hassle). I would like to direct connect the Sirius, rather than use the FM modulator.

The Empeg has received a kind upgrade in 2x 160Gb WD drives, plus lighted buttons and a rotary replacement courtesy of Stuart at Eutronix, and a tuner from Mark Lord.

Otherwise, I'm looking forward to another 10 years!

I was quite pleased with my more recent one crazy ... even if it doesn't all work as I'd like.
