It even plays.
That's cool
In the day. One time I played for 4.5 hours. My high score was 1.7 Mil.
All to win a $5 tee shirt.
I think that was the last time I ever played

Thats slick. Even works on Android and iPhone devices, using swipe gestures for movement. Had my entire pod trying it on their phones a little bit ago.

I don't think you need to swipe. Just tap above, below, left, or right of the pac man character.
The thing is implemented entirely in Javascript, CSS, and HTML 5. Impressive.

ROFL Inspired me to re-read the story of how that got made, and how it was one of the reasons for the video game industry crash.

ROFL!
I was one of the, apparently, dozen people who owned that game. It was terrible.

ROFL Inspired me to re-read the story of how that got made, and how it was one of the reasons for the video game industry crash. I know what you mean! It's one of the best stories in the history of video games. My favorite aspect of it is (as I wasn't a gamer at the time), I can imagine the disappointment of children who were fans of the fantasy of the movie, and ended up playing a frustrating game about a blob falling in pits.

Yes, yes! I had to try three times until I won the first level. Really nice!

Well I was one of the kids that got E.T. and I liked it :P That was before there were video game magazines to tell me it was bad. I liked it because there was actually a point besides just getting a higher score. A rare thing back then. I can find way worse games than E.T. go play this game.

I remember modding a 2600 with composite video out but only having to solder some wires to various places on the circuit board. Now all I can find are instructions to do it by adding circuitry. PS Why can't I attach files anymore ?
Edited by msaeger (22/05/2010 02:37) Edit Reason: Dug the 5200 out of the basement

If you insert 2 coins, you can do two player. Two player co-op even that has to be a first.

Only slightly related, but nostalgic nonetheless, now you guys have me looking on eBay for Commodore floppy drives because I remembered I still have some disks I'd like to pull files off of (including some graphics and demos). FIrst I have to make sure I can still find the disks...
I just spent the last 20 minutes playing with a Vic-20 emulator and the first game I ever bought myself on cartridge, Scott Adams' The Count.

Heh, I remember being incredibly impressed with that 2600 version of Ms. Pac Man, after having seen the travesty that was the original 2600 Pac Man.
And I adored my 5200. I had to mod the joystick because the fire buttons wore out too quickly, but after that it was awesome. Analog joystick!

I remember modding a 2600 with composite video out but only having to solder some wires to various places on the circuit board. Now all I can find are instructions to do it by adding circuitry. Picture quality is awful if you just connect it directly to the 2600 board. The outputs on the chip you're connecting to aren't buffered and aren't the correct voltage. The circuit gives a better output.

...looking on eBay for Commodore floppy drives... No need for eBay - remnants of the world's largest Commodore Users Group still exists, not far from you. And they are selling hardware... "DRIVES: Our available disk drives consist of the beige (1541C) or classic brown, with the classic pull-down-to-lock type mechanism (ALPS), or the swing-down-to-lock mechanism (Newtronics), and 1541-II drives. All of our drives are tested and aligned before we ship them." http://www.tpug.ca/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=58&Itemid=70

Re: TPUG K447, thanks for the tip. It hadn't even occurred to me that a local user group would still be around, let alone selling off a decent inventory of hardware. If they had an Amiga 3000 I might even have picked one of those up as well. But... Now that I've just found out that you can connect a C64 to S-Video (with a custom cable), I'll probably get a complete system instead of only the 1541. For the past 20 years I've sort of regretted selling my C64. I don't now how much use I'll get out of it, but it will be a neat item of nostalgia and won't take up too much space in my office, or even in the large cabinet I've built for my home theater system.
