You know how, with Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Word, there is the option to shrink or expand the data in the window to 75%, 0r 100% or whatever size you like? I was thinking how nice it would be if Firefox would offer that same feature. Currently I am working with some rather small text in which it is critical that I be able to see the accent marks, and with a word like "difícil" for example, especially when using a proportionally-spaced font it becomes quite difficult to tell if that second "i" is an "i" or an "í".

Is there Firefox plugin that will do this?

I'm a particular fan of Zoom Toolbar for Firefox, which gives me a really nice "=" button to set the zoom back to normal size after I'm done zooming with the mousewheel.

Current versions of Firefox should be making every element on the page bigger, maintaining all proportions and aspect ratios. This includes text which is re-rendered to maintain sharpness and graphics which pass through at least some interpolation filter rather than just being pixel duplicated/doubled.

As Tony mentioned, CTRL + and CTRL - (Command+ and Command- in Mac OS, which also applies to Safari after version 4)

And lastly, Ctrl+0 (that's zero) to go back to 100%.

I use Image Zoom in Firefox. It allows for per-website image and text zooming as well as mouse scroll-wheel zooming (or keyboard).
It works pretty well, but some sites start to look sort of wiggy with a zoomed layout.

No, it's that I didn't know about the ctrl+ trick.

It works perfectly on every website I tried (including this one)... EXCEPT for the one I need it for. On that site (www.spanishdict.com) it works erratically. Usually it will enlarge or reduce the data one time, then cease to work. That will be OK for me, I only need to set it one time per session. Don't know what's different about that website.

Gaah. The first screenshot in the original post showed exactly what I was seeing on screen. To see what I see on my screen now, you have to right-click the image and select view image. It's a BIG improvement!

The only thing I notice not working properly with zooming in Safari (as a comparison) is the width of the blue background behind the logo and top menu.

Ok, I had to go try all the Mac FF twofingerscroll+something options.

ctrl+scroll causes the mac it's self to zoom the entire screen.

optn+scroll causes FF to quickly trip thru the page history. (down is back)

In Chrome, The entire page magnifies equally, but doesn't reformat to fit the width of the window, if that's important.

Also, Doug, in Chrome the zoom level is remembered on a per-site basis. I believe it's the same for Firefox, but it's been a while since I used that browser.

I use this feature for a few web comics I read which, for some reason, I like viewing a little larger. Now, whenever I go to the site for those comics (via Google Reader), Chrome remembers the zoom level I like for that site and keeps it. Very handy.

Its in-built PDF viewer is super fast and has replaced a standalone app for me.

You are correct. Firefox does remember it.
