Yes. All across the eastern half of the US. Weather Underground says it hasn't been above 92F/34C up there in Toronto, though. Here in Raleigh, it's been incredibly hot. Seven of the last 8 days have been 100F/37.7C or more, and two of them have been 105F/40.5C, which I believe sets an all-time temperature record, and it's been hotter elsewhere. Dozens of people across the country have died because of the heat.

Here in Manteca it's been in the low 90's with cooling delta breezes in the evenings. Which is the historic norm for summers.

It's been about average for Austin (meaning mid to high 90s/35-38). There has been a pretty large high pressure system sitting around the middle of the US causing temperatures in many places to be above average. Colorado Springs was setting records when the wildfire broke out.

Where I am, about an hour out of Toronto it's gotten to about 36 for at least two days this week. I've heard 40 on the radio from Toronto stations, but don't know how/where they're measuring. With humidity factored in, it's supposed to "feel" well above 40. I've been in Portugal in supposed 40 degree weather and this feels worse, likely because of the humidity (Portugal is pretty arid). BTW, I live here and can tell you straight up that the numbers on Weather Underground for this week, at least as recorded an hour out of Toronto South West), are bullshit. Just saying. Maybe their readings come from right by the lake. Or an air conditioned monitoring station. The temperatures for the low days this week were most definitely not 26 degrees.

Yeah, I accidentally chose a smaller airport on an island in the lake. Still, Toronto Pearson shows similar numbers, and one of your local TV stations seems to confirm those numbers. Still, that's blistering hot for Canada.

The heat has been a pretty big problem in this area. It caused that storm a week ago (a derecho?) that knocked out power for millions of people, some of whom still don't have it back, which has got to be terrible when combined with the continued high heat. We only lost power for around 28 hours, but that second night was miserable and we still had to throw out most of the stuff in our fridge. It's awful. Our AC is struggling to keep the temps in our house down when we're home during the day. We hate to even venture outside! There was a day in June that was the highest recorded heat for June in DC (104), and two degrees shy of the all-time DC record of 106 in some August. It sucks.

Seems the asphalt at the DC airport isn't dealing with the heat well. http://i.imgur.com/Ir3wJ.jpg(from reddit)

We looked at the forecast for the week, and then left Ottawa for cottage country -- just as hot there, but with a (very large) lake to cool off in. Back now, and the coming week looks similar, but about 3-4C cooler during daytine, and better than that during sleeping hours.

It was really hot last week but it cooled off today after a couple thunder storms. It was especially bad due to the 4th of July holiday. Everyone planned get togethers outside.

After living in Phoenix for a couple years, it's funny to see what everyone else considers hot. It had to get above 115 (46) to be considered unusually hot for this time of year. And lows in the high 80's and low 90's aren't unusual either.

But it's dry in Phoenix and the temps drop at night right? It actually cooled off tremendously here tonight. Definitely cool enough for jeans and a long sleeve shirt outside on a patio.

The issue is what the area is used to and what they're prepared for. DC apparently has an average snowfall of about 15" (which seems high to me). A foot of snow all at once here may seem like nothing to someone from up north, but this area isn't prepared for it so everything shuts down. 2) The humidity here, at 12:30am last night, was 78%. 3) I know people from Phoenix, and they all say that in the summer you tend to go from house to car to office, and always stay in the AC

From Wikipedia:
Ajijic is located (at 20°18"N, 103°15"W) 5046 feet above sea level in the vast central Mexican plateau that is home to the Sierra Madre mountain range.
The Chapala Lake basin has a year round average temperature of about 72 degrees. Due to Ajijic's tropical latitude, the sun is warm year round; due to its relatively high elevation, it is seldom unpleasantly hot or humid. The rainy season begins in June and lasts until October with an average rainfall of approximately 34 inches. Even during the rainy season, precipitation generally occurs during the evening or at night.
December and January are the coolest months and May is the hottest, just before the onset of the rainy season. Overall, there is very little temperature variation year round: daytime highs in January are around 75 degrees; daytime highs in July are around 80 to 90 degrees.
Weather here has been completely normal.

But it's dry in Phoenix and the temps drop at night right? It's usually very dry, but summer is also monsoon season and after a monsoon thunderstorm, it can easily be 110+ and incredibly humid as all that rain evaporates back into the air. As mentioned before, the lows are in the high 80's or low 90's. It's not unusual to be over 100 degrees at 9pm. Three things: 1) I always love these "I can't believe what another region thinks is ____." The issue is what the area is used to and what they're prepared for. DC apparently has an average snowfall of about 15" (which seems high to me). A foot of snow all at once here may seem like nothing to someone from up north, but this area isn't prepared for it so everything shuts down. 2) The humidity here, at 12:30am last night, was 78%. 3) I know people from Phoenix, and they all say that in the summer you tend to go from house to car to office, and always stay in the AC 1) True. Everyone's used to it there so it's pretty normal. 2) See notes about monsoon season above. 3. Also true. We used to start our car 15 min. before leaving to allow it to cool down. It can easily get hot enough to burn your skin. Also have to remember to bring the car seats inside so that you don't sizzle your kids (if you don't have a garage). The outdoor shopping areas have misters installed that really help because it's so dry, the evaporative effect can cool the air 10 degrees or more. People in Phoenix suffer through the 4 months or so of barely tolerable weather because it's absolutely wonderful the rest of the year.

And lows in the high 80's and low 90's aren't unusual either. A couple weeks ago it was pretty normal temperatures, but the humidity was up in the 30-33% range. Everybody thought it was ridiculously hot (even when it was only 108F) because of that humidity. Last week was gorgeous though, I don't think we broke 100F on Independence Day and there was a light shower in the morning (enough to make my car absolutely filthy). Monsoons should be kicking in full force next week. Fun times.

Fortunately we're back to a sensible temperature now. It's only supposed to be in the 80's for a few days...

It finally hit the low 80s in the Puget Sound area this week. That's considered a heat wave by most sensationalist TV news reporters here. Before this week we were having very below average temperatures, like highs in the high 50s some days.

This morning it was 64. That was fantastic, and in general things are better this week. Supposedly this weekend is going to be in the low 90's, though.

The "online" weather report says it's 27 C in Milton (my town) right now. But I have 4 thermometers outside (2 units, each with 2 different probes) and they are all reading 34 in the shade.

Right now it is 81F with sprinkling rain (just turned into a full shower as I typed this). The best part is the wind is only blowing at 6mph. Normally when we get rain, the wind is 40+mph.
Edit: Quite a change from Tuesday when it was 112F while driving home from work.
