(while this is not exactly what the empeg was ment to be used ...)
I've a big, fully sorted and everything MP3 database on my server. I'd like to copy this one to one to my empeg (including the playlists), but when I try to use emptool (using usb) my PC crashes.

I've installed a new 30GB drive into my empeg and want to sync 20+GB (what I will not do using the serial line :-)).
I'd love to install the disk into my pc and use rsync. Unfortunately this does only copy the mp3 files and does not create the files in FIDs.

Can someone tell me how to do this? How to I construct the fids files?

BTW: I've a MkI (#112) now with 30GB and a Duron 750 with via chipset (an ASUS A7V iirc) running linux (kernel 2.4.7)

Have a look at my site (http://www-new.incase.de) for the format of and some general comments on FIDs. Also, you should know that there are some special FIDs, some virtual, some real. I will add that info to the site mentioned above within the next 30 minutes instead of putting it in this post. Stay tuned.
