I know the sorting (or not) of the playlist menus on the player has been done to death. And yes, I've applied the patch to display in playlist order.
What I'd love, and I suspect a lot of other people would like, is for playlists to sort by some user-specified collation key (either on the player or as a function in emptool/emplode/Jemplode). This would be an easy way to get record-store order (whichever order your local record store uses[1]).
And if the collation key was available to the player, the alphameric keys on the remote would be more useful as shortcuts (e.g. use the 'J' key instead of 'T' when looking for The Jam).
This would certainly work well for my Artist menus (I use artists/abc, artists/def etc to get the most from the remote), but probably wouldn't be the Right Thing for albums by artist (I like those to be chronological).
[1] In Cambridge, I know record shops that sort Led Zeppelin near ZZ Top and Pink Floyd near Foo Fighters, and others that sort Alanis Morissette with the Animals, as well as several with the more usual order of "surname or first word".
BTW, I'm not suggesting this as a 2.0 feature. It probably needs some discussion, and I'd rather leave it for 2.1 than have to wait even longer to get RDS TA.
