Greetings all,
Just thought I would drop a note on the status of my Empeg installation. I did purchase an adapter which was said to work with the factory Bose system, however after installing it into the car it would not function with the newer Bose units as are in this car. I contacted the seller and they were very agreeable about my returning the unit for a refund and asked that I send them a copy of GM's schematics on the new Bose system so that they could work on designing an adapter which will work. Of course I'm not one to wait for them to R+D the new adapter so I've opted to go for broke and install a complete system, centered around the Empeg, I also wanted to be able to play CD's and listen to the radio and my installer explained that installing two units in the dash of the Vette would be simply impossible (big mistake for him). Annoyed by his lack of enthusiam on the install I got out the trusty soldering iron last night at about 2300hrs and proceded to dissect the two circuit boards in the Vette's AC/Heater control pannel... I then built an umbilical to connect the two boards and remounted one to the inside firewall and the other (with the controls and bezel) inside the center armrest/glovebox... Presto... a new 1.5 din opening in the dash... I even managed to find a dash kit from my 89vette that adapted the opening to fit a 1 din player perfectly... anyway now since I've done the dirty work they don't have any excuses to not build the system to my specs... Audio will come from the Empeg and traved to a Rockford Fosgate RFX9300 CD/Tuner... it will then travel to my 4ch Clarion ProAudio 50x4 amp and from it to two sets of Focal PolyGlass 6.5" component sets (one front one rear). A seperate sub channel runs from the 9300 to a Soundstream Refrence 500 sub amplifier and from it to a single JL Audio 10W6 subwoofer. Of course from there the signal travels to my ears which will hopefully be pleased with what they hear. The install is scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday so hopefully it will be done by the weekend. I don't have a web site but will try to find somewhere to post some pics when it's all said and done. Thanks again for everyone's suggestions.

Is there anything mechanical left it today's cars!?

I would certainly like to see photos of your surgery. Never mind you don't have a web site: if the photos are smaller than 100k, just upload them here as attachments, one by one.

Wow, what a great story! Very ingenious.
