They're starting to produce those satellite radios for cars, at least in the US, they sound neat. All music, no commercials. I think you have to pay a yearly fee of $40 or something.

I'd like to see you guys come out with a tuner that handles that...

I think it's more like $120--$180 a year ($10--$15 a month).

But why would anyone want to pay money for the "privilege" of listening to some program director's idea of what is good music when all of the music that you really like (and even better, none of the music that you don't like) is already sitting there in your empeg, just a button push away?

I have had my empeg for more than a year now... and since the day it went into my car, I have not listened to the radio. I certainly would not pay money in order to do so.

But, that said, I do tend to march to the beat of a different drummer, and no doubt other people, smarter than I am, would disagree with my outlook.

My main use of radio (besides news etc) is to be alerted about new interesting music releases. You, on the other hand, are very unlikely to hear the L.v.B's new 10th symphony .

The latest Crutchfield catalog shows a standalone XM radio that has L-R RCA outputs. You can plug that into the AUX in on your empeg, and voila, you have an XM radio for your empeg.

The economics of it are pretty ordinary too.
at 10 - 15$US per month, if you bought CDs with that you can have that music [u]forever[/u] (or until the CDs broke) and you get 8 - 10 per year.
Why would you pay to have the privelige of not having ads?

Fortunately in Australia we have our National Broadcaster which is commercial free.
