How many sets of preamp outputs is the MarkII going to have? One or Two? I noticed that the MarkI only has one set. Thanks.

The Mk1 has two seperate sets of outputs, one for docked sled (4 channels) and one set for undocked (2 channels). The undocked mode is primarily for use with your HiFi at home.

The Mk2 has the same setup, albeit with different output drivers.

Yeah, you were probably looking at the picture of the unit when it's OUT of its in-car docking sled. That set is only for home-stereo hookups, when you don't need a front/rear fader.

When the unit is docked in the sled in the car, it has two sets of outputs controlled by a front/rear fader. Plus a third pair of RCA cables as an auxilliary input.

Note that the in-home set of outputs is 1v, and the in-car set of outputs is 4v.

Is there a switch inside the empeg to change the in-home output to 4v? I've rigged a portable battery supply/headphones for the empeg, but the output could stand to be louder.. increasing it to 4v would do the job, I think...

ps - you should have seen the airport security digging through my setup - I don't blame them - the battery is the alarm-battery with two terminals on it:) looks exactly like something else...

When I was inside the unit adding the drive, I noticed what looked like some capacitors soldered to the in-home output terminals. Could it be that those are what steps the in-home plugs down to 1v?

No, they're decoupling capacitors that remove any DC offset from the signal. There's no simple way to increase the power output - but you can buy line level to headphone drive convertors which incorporate a little watch battery.
