I just finished my s2000 button->empeg serial converter, but I had to do somthing
that I am not sure will be supported the same in the new 2.x empeg stuff.

What I need to be able to do is exit the menu system without entering anything.
I used the 'f' command
to do this and it works (pops the audio a bit).

Will that command still work on the new empeg releases???

Asterisk ('*') over serial exits one level of the menu structure without doing anything (i.e. that's 'cancel'). However, too many asterisks do no harm, so perhaps five or six will do the trick. Tested on 2.0b3.
