IWBNI when you pressed "Hush", there was some visual confirmation. Either a message ("Hush ON" and "Hush OFF"?) or the volume scale (perhaps with the hushed amount highlighted in some way?).

I have a completely different opinion of pause and hush.

I think that when something is paused or hushed, whether it be the MP3 player or the tuner or the aux, there should be a huge permanent box in the middle of the screen that says "PAUSED" or "HUSHED". It should never go away until you have unpaused or un-hushed the unit.

I really hate switching to a paused input and not seeing any indication of its paused state. It's very irritating to wait for the music to start and wonder why it doesn't start.

In case it's not obvious, my suggestions were for a brief pop-up. Tony's suggestion of a little letter 'h' (or an icon?) in the corner could be used instead or in addition. And it could stay there until unhushed.
