The tuner should just appear in the Source menu - if not, then I think you have a problem (which might be diagnosable if you can log into your empeg in the car).

You don't say what version of the player software you have - I assume at least 1.0.3, since that's what comes with the tuner.

If you havn't flashed the Rio Car yet, It has version 1.02 of the car player software on it. You must have at least 1.03 to use the tuner. A CD should have come with the tuner.

Your serial number in your sig suggests that you have a Rio unit and not an Empeg. With my Empeg, a few of the wires came loose of their crimp in the docking cage. It is my understanding that this issue has been fixed with the Rio units, but you never know.

Otherwise, If you are using the extension cable that came with the tuner, I remember seeing that some of those shipped wired improperly.

Good Luck.

Rio units shouldn't have any player-side tuner problems.

Check that the LED on the tuner comes on when powering up the player (it should come on towards the end of the boot sequence, once the player initialises it).

If you're using the extension cable that came with the tuner, try without it.

Check that your sled is wired firmly and the wiring order is correct (see the FAQ).

Downgrade to 1.03.

I've only had one dead tuner module so far, so wiring and software are the likely culprits.

email [email protected] if you still have problems.

Are you sure the software you installed was for a Mark2? I think that accidentally installing a Mk1 version of the software onto a Mk2 might make the tuner unavailable. Just a guess.

pretty sure it's MK2, i have been using it every day with no other problems, and i thought if i put MK1 on a riocar, it wouldn't even boot

i'll try some of the diagnostic stuff. maybe the extension cable wiring is mixed up. i guess i will find out tonight :)
