A few of us have a Rio 600 with the replaceable fronts through winning them and buying them what would be the chances of getting a few limited edition screen printed fronts with the empeg logo as i would love one and i am sure that them would be popular in the office

OK, I'm assuming you got your Rio600 as a rebate offer for having bought the empeg within 30 days of the reduction. Understood. Now, I just can't understand why anyone would actually BUY one of these things. It's incredible that SB claims that a 64MB device equals "up to two hours of music." Yeah, at 64Kbit. Why not measure at 32Kbit and say up to 4 hours?

If Apple drop the price, even marginally, on their iPod and release "out-of-the-box" Windows software, everyone else producing portable devices is in for a world of hurt.

All these portables are just different shells for what Diamond released with their very first Rio product. Massively outdated.

BTW, if you want to put an empeg logo onto your shell, you can do it yourself too. Get an inverse logo cut at a vinyl shop and use it as a mask. Then spray the colour of your choice and remove the mask. Or make a positive sticker and keep that on instead of painting.

It is far from wonderful but it is a load better than the others out there it is great for sitting on a plane now that i have gone CD free in my travels

using 96wma is acceptable

If SB got empeg to make a portable now that would be good imagine even a 1 gig empeg in your pocket

It was done by the team in Vancouver, Washington (who are now in Tigard, Oregon).

The german team did the Rio Receiver and an as-yet unreleased box - both of which feature empeg software.

Audible.com is giving these away with a 12-month * $12.95 subscription. That means getting 12 books of any price and 12-48 periodicals (some weekly, some monthly). Since I already spent about 10/month at audible, I figured this was a free Rio. Anyone know what the biggest memory expansion is for the 600?

I believe you could buy a 128M expansion pack is the max. ($199 on their e-store)

They also have some Rio800 that are stacked up with 384M. Basically they are popluated with 256M on board and 128M backpack.

Does anyone have a good idea what typ of memory it uses? I guess it doesn't have to be standard, but if it is a standard type of memory shoved into the backpack, I think I could rig something up...
