An hour isn't that big of a deal for standby mode. Since the drives are spun down and the amps are shut off, it doesn't consume a huge amount of power. However, the CPU is still running so it is definitely using up some power.
It's not like leaving your headlights on. It's probably more comparable to leaving your interior cabin light on. So an hour isn't that big of a drain on most batteries unless they're low on charge to begin with.
Many people set the timer very short, say, to 5 seconds, to help with their keyless entry systems. If you use a keyless-entry system, and you have noticed that the Empeg reduces the range of your keyless remote, then set it to 5 seconds so that it doesn't interfere.
