Tried looking on the Roi page for such a item could not find one. I've checked in most of my local computer sores and to no avail have I found one. I think the one on my Empeg player is bad.. How may I receive 1 or 2 from Rio.

Thanks for this link. I am adding this link to the FAQ entry on the subject right now. If someone can confirm to me for sure that this is really the right cable and it works in the car player, let me know.

that is the one I bought the problem with it is on the empeg cable one of the connectors is flipped so the holes are on the opposite side from the other two (does that make sense)

Get a new cable from the empeg guys in the UK. It takes no time at all in the mail and they're even better quality than the one that was in the player originally (at least with mine).

Plus I think David might be nearly through all his email, so he might be wanting 'smore. :) Hehe.

When I mangled mine in the hard drive upgrade, I was told that it was a custom cable. The folks @ empeg were nice enough to send me a new one, but they are custom. I am certain it is easy enough to make one, but I have been too lazy to do so yet.

You are correct they are a custom cable. Where would you get the connectors for them. I think it would just be best to get them from the source "Empeg"

I sent an e-mail to [email protected] to request a cable or the cost of one.

Doesn't the I-Opener internet appliance use a custom laptop IDE cable? What are the chances they are the same for that thing and the Empeg? AFAIK the I-Opener cables are plentiful.

EDIT: After looking at the specs for the I-Opener cable, I doubt they are the same. Click here to see what I mean.

EDIT #2: This is the post that finally got me to enthusiast status. Woo Hoo!

I'll have to wait until Wednesday to find out if I get to write askign for three new cables. :) Keeping my fingers crossed that the ones in the units are ok. Though if they're ever going to be bad, I'd much prefer their problems to show up right away.
