ok im a linux dork when it comes to the empeg, i go into hyperterminal and get it all loaded up there try the Q command to drop into the shell and get this.

"Switching to shell-player loop
Starting bash.
no shell!
Shell exit"

I just wanna try and put on some of these lil programs like emptris, and load them on, can someone explain a step by step install of those, i thought i could figure it out on my own, but i coudl be way off. thanks

Did you install a developer image?

Try installing stuff that has existing documentation first, like displayserver 1.3. Read tony's VolAdj and Picker for dummies file. Then installing other things will seem much easier when you understand how bash works a little more. (i don't recall there being instructions for emptris anywhere.)

You might want to read the FAQ Entry on this subject a little more closely. I thought I made it pretty clear in there.

(Short answer: Consumer image doesn't have a shell prompt, you need developer image.)

haha thats my problem... ill have to grab a developer image, i know linux great but i keep trying command in hyperterminal and it just poops at me.. NO SHELL! i wasnt aware of the differnt comsumre and developer images.. i still got lots to learn about this beast.. thanks everyone
