I'm wondering if anyone would be able to appease my curiosity. I had been following Empeg since its birth, and when the the initial queue for ordering the first players was announced, I was number 2 on the waiting list.
Is anybody else here among the first few on the waiting list? Anybody here number 1? Was it someobody within Empeg, perhaps?
Just randomly curious...

I was actually just looking back at the older newsletters from Empeg. Pretty cool....
I have Empeg Mailing List #9-16 plus a few more that are not numbered.

I was 3422 in the queue (I think I was actually lower, but I lost my original queue number and re-entered the queue before I realized I could just ask them what my queue position was). However, I didn't buy one until a few weeks ago (#2529, which came with 1.02 installed).
Until the price drop, I couldn't justify the cost, though I always wanted one. I don't drive nearly enough to justify over USD$1000 on car audio gear. I was also concerned about the lack of a tuner.
Now that I have one, however, you'll have to pry it from my cold, dead fingers.

I got the invite to purchase 9/23/99 and purchased #238 (I think). I sold it on ebay in order to get a mark II, I got $1025 for it too if I remember correctly.

No idea what my queue number was. I believe it was in the 8000 range according to my first post on the Empeg BBS. I was eligible to buy some of the first Mk2 units but had to get the finances in order. I ended up with Mk2 #554. I registered for the BBS in June of 1999... Hard to believe it's been that long!

I registered 20-12-1998 and got a mail from hugo the 28th that my registration number was 1934.
7-9-1999 my part of the queue was finally reached and I ordered the 6Gb model for UKP 946.20 (that DID hurt)
24-9-1999 it was shipped and I received it 1-2 days after. It got serial# 158 and if I remember correctly it was shipped with Beta-6. This unit was sold with an extra sled 11-2000 for DEM 1500. I really loved the Mk1, it felt solid like a brik,
1-8-2000 I placed my order for a shiny new Mk2 12Gb. Paid UKP 707.75 for it (discount price for being Mk1 owner). It arrived arround 24-8-2000. It got serial 380 and carried a modified beta-11 to support ethernet. Until the day it was sold the Mk1 remained in the car, the Mk2 was on my desk. It took a while to get used to the new Mk2 look, honestly I still like the Mk1 "stealth look" better. 4-10-2001 (!) The tuner _finaly_ shipped.
23-12-2001 I ordered a 10Gb Mk2a, because they were sold out I took the 20Gb model with extra remote and paid UKP 253.35 for it. I got it today 7-1-2002 around 8:05. It had serial 3274 and was shipped with 1.02.
I'm not sure if I'll ever sell my Mk2, but if I do it'll be sold to a friend of mine who saved up some money to buy one but has just missed the timeframe to do so...
