So, purchased another unit for a friend and found the whole tuner issue. So, rather than paying close to 300, we went on ebay and purchased a used kenwood cd deck with am/fm and aux. out. It cost 73.00 USD

Now granted, if you have a small car or no space, this doesn't work, but it will fit nicely in a double din with the empeg. Splicing the power leads are easy and the empeg powers the speakers, so there is little in the way of connection for the head unit.
