If you're in the US and can't get something to hold your Empeg in, this may be the answer. Also good if you think your Empeg carrying case looks like a "man-purse."

Oh goodness that thing looks geeky. I am a proud geek but not proud enough to wear that vest... Rather carry the "man purse" actually.

Do those pockets even fit an Empeg?

I think it would fit Empeg since it looks like they're showing the bottom left pocket holding a litre of bottled water. Rio maybe should have put their logo on this instead of the fleece vest. You're right, it is very geeky.

I think it's gotten bad when clothing has revision numbers.

Yeah. kinda makes you wonder what bugs may have been worked out since version 1.0..
Pockets too small for cd players?
Electrical shocks from the "PAN"?
Maybe the waterproof fabric wasn't as "flattering" as initially thought?

No no no, Osama saw that Seinfeld on Al Jazeera. It a purse, most definitely. If I did not hate empeg, I would recommend keeping it in turban, but no, empeg must die.

I've often wondered where exactly in Europe men carry handbags (purses to the yanks amongst us). It's not something I've noticed!

..apart from Tinky Winky obviously.

The Rewards For Justice Program, United States Department of State, is offering a reward of up to $25 million for information leading directly to the apprehension or conviction of Usama Bin Laden. An additional $2 million is being offered through a program developed and funded by the Airline Pilots Association and the Air Transport Association.

Now to trace that IP address..

(Simpson's comic-book store guy voice) Best...vest...ever.

I could be looking at the spray pattern of milk on my monitor right now Tony -- why no ?

I have been toying the that SAME idea (the e-Vest) for a while now, and had always been on the verge of raiding some sporting-goods store for their best khaki fishermans vest with the idea of annexing pocket space for my one-two-or-three-too many alt.tech.worker devices.

If they maybe DISGUISED the thing more to be less geeky than the Star Trek belt that got Bart beaten...

Jimbo: Hey Simpson, wanna trade belts?
Bart: Well, not really, 'cause yours is just a piece of extension cord.
[close-in of a cord wrapped around Jimbo's pants]
Kearney: Hey, dude, he's ragging on your cord.
Jimbo: Get him!

...and gave it the Eddie Bauer treatment, I'd probably buy it.

Rob, he said "Europe," not that rainy rock you live on. Hehe. I've seen plenty of guys carrying man-bags. Mostly while in my childhood. I probably have pictures around somewhere of my dad with one.

I also used to work at a bank some years back and remember seeing people with them every now and then. Documents, etc. No cool geek stuff in them.

I prefer carrying mine around in a portable weapon (Pelican case )

...do you ever have the urge to shave your head, put on a suit and Ray-Bans and walk around downtown with it hand-cuffed to your wrist?

If I had a crisis of gear-totage, I'd just go find a nice nondescript (read: so ppl won't mistake me for staging a Himalayan ascent) backpack or book-bag (which was suddenly the rage on campus a few years ago, semi-popularized by the quazi-cool bike-courier culture).

Those docker pants are a great idea until you have to visit the men's room stall while fully encumbered.
