I accidentally deleted some mp3 files on my primary system, and the only backup I have exists on the empeg player itself.

I thought I might be able to drag-and-drop (on the ms-windows interface) the directory structures onto my PC, but no go. So, I seem to recall there being some block that disallows this.

Is there a way around this problem?

If you use the latest Beta software, you can right click on a file or a playlist and select the "Download" option.

I recently tried using the beta software (a month ago?) and it really screwed up the system; I ended up having to restore the latest commercial release and all is fine.

Were there any subsequent releases since then?

I updated to the latest beta7. The machine just shut off by itself, mysteriously, while playing a song. So, I guess I'll download the stuff I need, and then re-do the latest 1.03 commercial release again... sigh! Thanks for the pointer.
