Since the serial number of each empeg-car is accessible in /proc, I think it would be a good idea to have the empeg display the serial number briefly on bootup, maybe when the empeg/penguin logo is displayed. This might be useful if (when?) someone is unlucky enough to have their empeg stolen. It would be easy to remove the sticker on the unit, but if it displays the serial number every time it is switched on... (can anyone tell I'm a bit worried about having mine nicked? )

Maybe this could even be expanded to have a read-only file created on the hdd somewhere storing the owner's details - name, address or whatever - which could be retrieved using a menu option.

Just an idea I had while I sit at work, knowing my empeg is miles away (I'm sure it misses me almost as much as I miss it! )

I've already created a text file hidden away on the disk containing my details in case it gets nicked.

Probably something to do with spending a lot of time in Liverpool, UK, which has a fairly high crime rate.
