Hello,

I just did my first long road trip with the RIOCar, and it performed excellent. However, 5 hours into it, I got the Hijack high temperature beep. I just notched up the alarm threshold a few degrees, (i forgot what the default was), and obviously the alarm stopped.

The question is: what setting should I set the alarm for? I assume the critical component that needs protection is the hard drive. Is there a spec on the nominal operating range of the drive?

Also, I thought of a cool hack if possible: can the auxillary power line be conditioned with the temperature alarm? If so, that line can be used to power a fan only when things get hot. (fans suck in audio components.)

thanks
-Ted

the thermal limits are on the spec list that came with the box.. or you can probably find it in the tech specs on the rio website..

Operating Temp Range:
* 5 deg. C to 55 deg. C

Why not just convert to degrees centigrade alltogether, would be much easier. Who came up with this fahrenheit anyway ?
