from Mark Taylor on the lame-dev mailing list:
<blockquote>
LAME 3.91 puts a tag on each mp3 file with the beginning and ending offsets, so that a decoder can trim the output so it is the same size as the original .wav. But I dont think any decoders can yet do this. 'lame --decode' will remove the leading padding, but we haven't but in the code to remove the trailing padding yet.
</blockquote>
Does the empeg recognise these offsets (I think no)? If not, are there plans to support them? I can imagine that this is something the HSX would also like.
