Is there a reason why my Empeg always comes up in "Info" mode after a reboot, even on AC power. This seems to be occuring since about 1.67 (give or take a few version numbers) version of Hijack was installed. Previously it rebooted showing visuals and I have reselected and rebooted several times with the same result.

I have "Restore DC/Car Visuals" enabled and "Force AC/DC power Mode" set to normal. Now running 1.72.

Well it must be me! I went back to the v1.51 of Hijack and it still doen't restore visuals. so now I have completely reset all the display selections to the same modes as they have been all along adn all is well again.

Must have been a stray bit flying around. Just delete this thread-it's clutter!

There is a whole other thread on this topic. Some people are complaining that the Hijack restore visuals feature does not work every time.

I suspect (haven't tested it) that it might have something to do with the way the flash stores how you got to the visual. If you select from the main menu (directly selecting info-transient, info-line, or info-off, as opposed to using the Info button or the hijack "info" knob press to get there), then I think it works.

Can anyone verify this behavior?

In my case I didn't do anything that I was aware off other than to update Hijack. It has only done this once, ever, so far! Seemed random and infrequent to me. I'll watch for a reccurence.

Well, tony that makes sense.

I cannot get Hijack any version to restore my visuals, but then I never use the front panel to do so - I use either the remote of the Sony Stalk Control.

I will try using the front panel and see if that fixes the problem.

I have Hijack V170 at the moment, but I don't think this feature has ever worked for me even though its enabled in Hijack.

I *only* use the remote to change info modes. And it was working for me in car with 151. At home it's always worked.

I had a thread going with Mark on my Visuals not restoring!

I guess everyone missed it Anyway, the Player thought it was in AM mode! If your Visuals (Info Mode) aren't restoring correctly try, Pressing the Source button, until you switch from the player and then back to it. Now reboot!

Your Info Mode & Visual should be restored.

I did what you suggested and once I'd switched to a visual (rather than say, now&next) and then powered/off then on (actually, remove from sled, put back into sled), then it came up in the previous visuals mode.

Wonderful.

Interesting trick that, must be a bug in the player software to not record the current mode properly or something.

The basic story is that you had the player connected to a Tuner in "AM" mode, and then powered off. From that point forward, if you power up without a Tuner connected, parts of the player software will still think they are in Tuner mode (eg. the "time" display), while other parts will work normally (eg. mp3 player). This continues until you hit the source button to change the stored-flash setting.

I had added code to Hijack to detect/fix this situation (just recently), but if you saw it with any of the v18x kernels, then I guess it ain't working -- perhaps the player overrides the Hijack correction..

There's a bug report in the RioCar database (from me) on this subject, so maybe it will be fixed someday.

Cheers.

Its not your kernel as I'm still of Pre V18X kernels (no upgrades for 3 days!).
