I've got this problem from beginning on - at least it's not that bad but I'd like to have it solved..

I've got the empeg connected via the original car's ISO-connector. the pins are connected fine an everything works well when the engine runs. but when the engine is stopped and the empeg only runs on battery it sometimes reboots, 'cause there isn't enough power - then it reboots, plays for a while and e.g. at a disk-spinup it hasn't enough power again, so it reboots again..

so what could i do to make the power-supply more stable?
anyone any ideas?

could you explain that a bit more exactly?
I've got a diesel engine and i think the battery isn't weak at all...
I haven't tried connecting the empeg direct to the battery (would be a pretty high effort) and I'm not sure if this helps..

Teemcbee,

1)What kind of car do you have?

2)Have you always had this problem (since your empeg was installed)?

I would triple-check the wiring that runs to the player and make sure there aren't any blown fuses along the route.

If that doesn't solve it, then I would run a heavy wire directly to the car's battery for the 12v constant power.

This is my first post, Yipeee.
I've just got round to installing my mk2 player, into my car.
I too have got the same kind of problem, if my car is under load, i.e headlights and heater on, then i use my indicator and the empeg cuts out, then back in but with the battery logo???

I might try the same route with the direct connection, i'm assuming that the direct connection should also be fused?!

A check-up of battery, generator and charging regulator might be an idea...

Fuse the wire close to the battery - the unfused portion can get red hot and set stuff on fire in case of a short to ground. If that happens somewhere inside the dash... definately not fun.

Thanks for the reminder about fusing the wire. Always fuse your battery runs, everybody!
