Every so often my player locks up when I select the Aux input. Restarting the player does nothing even re-flashing 2.0b7 doesn't do anything. The only way to save my player is to load 1.03 and back to 2.0b7. I noticed another thread describing the exact problem:

http://empeg.comms.net/php/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Board=bigs&Number=42349&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=7

But the trail went cold and I have no idea wether the problem was solved or not. Could someone please help as its annoying in the extreme to have to re-flash the player every time this happens.

See if you get the error message about "Could not find CS4231A" in the boot log. If so, e-mail support. Let us know how it goes.

I don't know. Contact [email protected] and see what they have to say.

My recently aquired Rio-car was exhibiting this same kind of behavior, I contacted support. The player seemed fine when v1.03 was on it except it would never keep time when unplugged, I could reinstall 2.0b7 only after reinstalling 1.03 first, if I tried reinstalling 2.0b7 first it would freeze during boot at 'starting audio'. When I did get a successful 2.0b7 install it would run OK (clock still wouldn't keep time) until pressing 'source' button on remote that would freeze it up again.
The problem turned out to be a chip like the other thread you mentioned in your post. Contact repair guys and get it running, it took mine just a week round trip to get back to me & they paid for the trip. Hope you find out what it is and can use it as it was intended, I was fortunate that I had my old empeg to use while the new one was at the hospital.

Any idea how much this repair will cost? This happens not that often and my Empeg is not under warranty anymore (and I installed a hd )

If I get mine fixed I'll ask how much it would cost outside the warranty.
