I get that periodically. Bizarrely it seems to reliably go away if I flash a new kernel.

I've had the problem 3 times so far.

Cristian, the repair is something that you will probably be able to do yourself in less than 30 minutes (if you've never opened your player before) and in as little at 10 minutes if you have.

See the Drive Upgrade Guide at RioCar.org for photos of the inside of the player and directions on how to open it up. Don't do anything until support tells you to, but reading it will help familiarize yourself.

It may not need to take the trip. David might just send you the cable and let you install it yourself (if that's the sort of thing you're able to do).

I have no probs doing it myself. It is my mates really. He took one look at mine and put an order in for his own at carplayer.com. Just his luck to get a duff one.

i have sent an e-mail to support, I have noticed that the new unit does rattle a little more than my own unit, prehaps the cable has just come off ????

I'll just wait for support to get back to me, gives him more time to get his album collection onto his PC though ;-)

The rattle is most likely due to the make of the drives. Some brands make more noise than others...
