Okay, I finally relented and implemented a workaround for the messed up INFO modes in v2.00-beta-11 of the player software.

Hijack v216 has a menu item to enable/disable Restore Visuals (v2beta11) which, when enabled, fixes the INFO mode on reboots in AC/Home mode. If you use this, ensure that your initial= button press sequences in config.ini do not conflict with this mechanism! Also note that this is for use only with the beta11 player software, so turn it off if you are running anything other than beta11.

Note that the pre-existing Restore DC/Car Visuals already handles the DC/Car case (it was broken until v215, but works again now).

Also new in v216: increased max number of dance= lines from 10 to 16, and added error-recovery for missing dance files (like, after a player upgrade.. doh!).

Enjoy!

You da man, Mark!

Next feature request (besides dimming for the backlit buttons... )...

Make the L/R delay be remembered separately for home and car...

I just tried Hijack 216 and there's something I don't know if it's a bug or not...

When I press and hold the POWER button on the Rio Remote, it is supposed to sleep the player. But it only works intermittently in 216.

It seems as though if I hold down the POWER button for a really long time, it sleeps appropriately. But if I hold down the power button long enough so that it goes into sleep, but then I release the power button as soon as it sleeps, then it will wake up again upon the release of the button.

I downgraded to hijack 197 and verified that it worked properly (or at least it seemed to), and then I went back up to 216 and the problem came back.

Okay, since Hijack v202 the Source/Power button on my RioCar has been "touchy", and I'm sure others have noticed it as well.

It turns out that this is due in some way to the two-line "illuminated button hack patch" from Brian, which was first included in v202. So, I'm disabling that hack by default as of Hijack v217, until we figure out what causes it and how to work around it.

For the few who actually have the button kit hardware installed, you can turn the patch back on in config.ini:

[hijack]
buttonhack_enabled=1

Yeah, for some reason, with the buttonhack code installed/enabled, the Source/Power sends TWO press/release codes -- the second one wakes up the player again. But if you hold the button down long enough, the second set get "absorbed" by the player (ignored for whatever reason).

Dunno if this also happens with other buttons.

Kudos to Geoff Nicol for tracking down the version number (v202).

Cheers

That's a really strange bug. Seems odd that it would be caused by that. Sensible work-around in 217, thanks.

Since I'm viewing this thead in Flat mode, for a second, I thought your "speaking of which" comment was about how you already added dimming to the code. Had me scrambling to the site. You tease.

I already ask for this with handly setup in config.ini that you would give left=0.3 and right=1.30 (in meters) that would calculate the delay for you ...
