Yes, that is the default behavior. If it's changing the visuals with each song, it's because you've activated the "auto change visuals" feature. Turn that feature off and you will be back to just one visual.

i looked around in the menus before but didn't find anything that refers to turning of the autochange feature. maybe i missed something. tony, if you know off the top of your head where this option lies maybe you can help out.

On the rio remote control, press the MENU button.

Scroll to the right to VISUALS and press MENU.

Scroll to the left to AUTO CHANGE and press MENU.

Scroll to OFF and press MENU.

thats odd that it got turned on be defualt, but go where tony directed you that will solve it im assuming ur running v2-b11, at least i hope so if your player is doing that

Of course Beta11 has a bug whereby autovisuals switches itself on whether you like it or not. It doesn't seem to affect everyone.
