I am having a mobile hands free kit for a Nokia 6210 fitted in a 02 Audi A4.
I have had one visit from an installation engineer who went away wanting an empeg but failed to install the kit.

Empeg is installed thus:
Rear speakers via Audi amplification
Fronts and Sub courtesy of a 4 channel Genesis amp.

Ideal is to have phone mute empeg when it rings and phone come through Audi speakers.

I know I can get the empeg to mute when the phone rings. My question revolves around the feasibility of having the phone coming through the Audi speakers.

Q does the kit utilise the Audi amplification or the stock beta stereo to drive the phone sound? (If it uses the Audi amplification I assume I would get sound from my rear speakers when my phone rings)

Q Is there anyway that I could do with the empeg to solve this

My standby option is to have another speaker fitted.

Help!

Regards

Paul

You could inspire from my personal phone speaker I made.

This is very simple :

Take your hand free kit.

1- Cut the headphone wire and determine what are + and - wire.

2- Sold the + wire in serial with a 100uF capacitor.

3- Sold this to a RCA plug with some long wire.
It will allow you to easily place the Microphone in your car

Plug this RCA to your Aux In.

The sound is Mono. but you have sound in the 2 speakers. (I dont have rear speaker for now).

I plan to build a cradle for the phone that will make me connect phone on it and it's gonna be more simple.

I will try also to feed the mute wire with some hack from the phone.

Here is a starting link : Gnokii

Talking about hands-free is starting to get me interested in rigging up something in my truck.... now with getting the sound from the phone to go thru the speakers, is that just by simply going thru the mic input on the empeg, and then the audio will simply be patched thru when the mute input (green wire) is active, or is it more complex than this?

The problem is that the Microphone of Empeg must be managed by software.

You will have to code your own prog to have the Mic used by the Empeg.

For the phone, the best is to use an hand free kit that you hack.

You can replace the given microphone of the HFK by an other very good Microphone.

The status of the microphone is easily hackable with some modifications (feed the the mute line with a good signal)

The player (via Hijack buttons sequences), can switch to the Aux when the Mute line is On or Off.

And the sound of your phone can be done with explanations I gave before.

If you devellop a phone App, I'll be the first interested but It will be specific to your phone (Nokia XXXX or something else)
