I shipped my Emma over to her new boss, who is having difficulty getting Emlpode to connect to the player. With my W98 system, I had no exceptional difficulties, with either USB or serial. He is running W95 though

Is there anybody out here who runs Emplode on W95 successfully? Is this with serial or USB?

What kind of serial connect is used as a connection between PC en the player: straight serial, or null modem?

Emplode will only run accross a null-modem cable for Windows 95, and then only if they have internet explorer 4 or above loaded...

Thanks, that's what I assumed.

Why would Emplode need Internet Explorer ???

I'm the "New Boss" Henno speaks of. I've fallen in love with Emma - she's a really cool player! I've spent the past week archiving and ID'ing my CD collection and Emma now holds over 300 of my fav. tunes. I was disappointed that W95 and Emma don't get along so I'm been forced to use the serial link which tends to be unreliable. Emplode ends up generating requestors about an internal error and I have to close-box it out. Can you say S-L-O-W??? I think I'll take my old mp3 project and throw a USb port in it and W98 and see if I can get those 200KPS baud rates - it would sure be nice.

Anyway, hopefully 24 hours from now - the last 5 CD's should be upped into Emma and then I can try her out. The shuffle and play feature if phenomenal!

Thanks for reading..

Erin

Welcome to the community, Erin.

I just wanted to throw something in here, in case you hadn't heard it before. Please understand that it's not Empeg's fault that USB doesn't work properly on Windows 95. No vendor can get USB working properly on Win 95, since the OS support for it is flaky at best. I'm not sure why this is the case... You'd think it'd just be a matter of writing the proper drivers and replacing a few system files. But for some reason, that hasn't been done successfully yet.

You will really appreciate the speed of synchs on USB (especially after having done some serial-cable uploads), so definitely consider upgrading to Windows 98 as soon as you can.

I seem to be on an OS bashing streak today (hope I don't annoy anyone), but you could also 'upgrade' to linux.

Someone's .sig file...

"The box said Windows95 or better so I used linux."

A button I picked up at the convention last weekend:

The Windows Hierarchy
32-bit graphics and extensions
for a 16-bit shell on an
8-bit OS originally coded for a
4-bit microprocessor by a
2-bit company that can't stand
one bit of competition.
