While looking at the new features poll, I had the idea of using the RDS system to, instead of just having the blinking lite when in power off mode, have the empeg display the time faded in the background, also having the option to have this on or off.
Also, if or when automatic news and trafic info switching comes available, not just having the option to have this on or off, to also have the option just to display an icon and beep a few times allowing the user to switch if he / she chooses.
On that note, do we have any female empeg owners, I havn't realy noticed.

I just got back from a trip to the UK and Ireland, and its the first time I have ever seen RDS in use. The traffic switching is really cool. If you are listening to one station and a traffic report comes on another station, the radio will automaticlly switch for the traffic info, then switch back. Does anyone know if the radio stations in the US are set up for RDS?
To all the empeg crew- did you go to Cambridge University? It seems like a really nice school from what little I saw of it, although I would hate to drive a car around that city.

Only our latest programmer, Peter, went to Cambridge. Hugo, Roger, Mike and John all went to Warwick which, it could be argued, has a better CS department than Cambridge. I went to UWE in Bristol which I would argue is better than the lot of them (but I'd be lying).

PS I also hate to drive a car around Cambridge.

What is the state of play of the missing RDS functionality (clock, TA etc). Are they going to make an appearance before consumer 1.0 ?

Im glad im not the only one who feels intimidated by the roads there-especially London. I always complain about the traffic here in Dallas, but now I have a much greater appreciation for the roads that we have here.

That's quite Ironic Hugo, Rob, et al working for a car audio company but not liking driving in Cambs.
Funny though, Dominic and Neill (?) from CambsCar don't like driving either....
The number of bicycles has obviously addled your minds!

More ironic is that Peter, John, Daniel & Roger don't even have driving licences, let alone cars. A full half of a car audio company can't drive (well, legally at least) :)

Clock has been in recent releases, but full TA etc is not in 1.0. We will continue working on it, but there are some more important bits to go in before then (station search, for example!)

Has it been mentioned in the release notes, if it has I must have missed it.
station search, for example
Oh yes, how did I forget that. That's the main reason I still haven't fitted my empeg to my car despite having had it nearly a year...

Will the clock feature be available for MK1, so even though it don't have RTC we can still see the time, whatever mode we are in.

I'd laugh, but something about that is a little scary. Paul. Paul Haigh, 6GB, Blue Reg: 4120 - Serial 00254

RDS clock *is* in the mk1 already, since something like beta10. It's only displayed if the station you're tuned to is transmitting it and you're in tuner mode though.
