How are those of you with 2 Empegs keeping thier content synch'd. I want both of my players to be identical but haven't figured out how to do it without making identical changes on them both separately in Emplode.

There is a Clone utility that works over USB included with the software. It will clone the lower-serial-number to the higher-serial-number.

Takes forever though.

How's Jemplode doing in this area?

Never used Jemplode before, does it have a faster option?

Yeah, the ethernet version is here, but you need to know Linux to do it.

jEmplode can be used to copy tunes across Empegs, but keeping them in sync is not it's forte (right now anyway). All the data is there to pull this off though ...

Greetings!

Once the empegs are synced for the first time using clone, does it sync deltas or try the whole thing again? I am guessing the whole thing, which would take far too long.

Any time I need to do this, I usually do surgery and copy drive to drive. That still takes a while, but is far better than USB or ethernet throughput.

I know people were working on a hard drive sync. Has there been any progress with that?

The empegClone utility does a complete copy. Not sure about jEmplode.
More to the point, empegClone only works over USB, and only works from lower serial numbers to higher.

There's two different ways to do it listed at my website: netcat and rsync. The first also does a complete copy, but is a darn sight quicker than empegClone. The second does a proper synchronisation, and is very quick. I use it maybe two or three times a week.

I use "mirrordir" over FTP from a separate Linux box.

Works like a charm.
