I have them in my Explorer and they sound really great. They like a lot of power though (best to put a good amp behind them) I don't think you'll regret them.

Edit: BTW - I have the S500s Hex's.

Cheers,
Phil

I've got M5s in the NSX and I wasn't overly impressed. Trying some JLs in the Honda Civic Type R in a week or so... I think you need to listen to a range before buying. The M5s were quite bright.

I've got Diamond Audio HEX's w/ silk tweeters and they are fantastic. Clear and musical, and the silk tweeters means they're not too bright. Try before you buy though.

The beetle is for sale, the CTR is its replacement - ordered it about 5 months ago... despite being made in the UK, the Civic type R is in short supply!

It's very black, and damn quick. Brakes are amazing too - Top Gear magazine commented that it's the fastest stopping production car they've ever tested, even beating a 911 GT3. I've been on track days with GT3s, and they brake soooo late into corners it's not funny!

No empeg in it yet, though. This is being rectified next week - until then I'm having to put up with a "CD player" (I believe this is what it's called). The factory speakers are awful; I took one out and it weighs less than my headphones. I'm not kidding - cheap is not the word.

Of course, maybe this is in the name of weight conservation. Maybe with the sub & new speakers the CTR will be about on a par with the 1.6 civic

You don't get AC as standard in the UK CTR!

I got AC fitted anyway, it's useful sometimes and makes the car easier to sell used... AC is a dealer fit option, it doesn't get fitted at the factory.

The spare is a laugh. It's a space saver, but the front discs are so big it can't be used on the front... if you have a flat on a front wheel, you need to put the back wheel on the front and the spare on the rear!

If I want to make it faster, I'll ask the passenger to get out. Or get a lighter girlfriend. You can always spot Citroen AX GT drivers, they're the ones with the anorexic midgets as partners - doesn't spoil the performance too much

Bastard. Honda could sell SO FREAKIN' MANY of those if they sold them in the US. Hey Acurasquirrel... would a CTR engine fit in an early 90's Civic HatchB? heheheh.

The new CTR engine would not. The new K-series engine is way different than all previous Honda engines as it spins in the opposite direction(possibly to sell to other car companies?) anyway the best and easy swap IMHO into the early 92-95 model civics would be a b18C1 or b18c5 if you have the $$$ if you want all out speed I recommend a b18B and slap a turbo on it.

But then they wouldn't sell so many integras/rsx's... At least that's what I'd think their logic is. Though after they canned my beloved prelude I've lost some faith in honda's logic.

There are so many mod'ed hatchback civics in my neighborhood in Boston. All the gangbangers have such nice hondas. So many Si's too, just like yours Loren.

Speaking of.... I couldn't swing the Si for myself, but I did just get (today) a 98 civic EX. I really like the body on it, isn't yours a 99? Mine's silver, photos coming soon!

The Prelude really was similar to the Accord coupe in the people it drew so they merged them look for a 240 hp coupe with a 6 speed in the near future. I do hate the fact that they dropped the Integra name and double wishbone suspension.

Yeah, I'm waiting. I got my prelude the year before they discontinued them, so I'm set for another ten years, if all goes according to plan. The Accord coupe is a far cry from a prelude, as the orgins are compleetly different - whenever I drive an accord I feel like I'm in a boat that rocks back and forth after every lane change. (Before I iritate anyone with an accord, I spent years being compleetly content with my accord's steering -- go test drive that last accord the dealership has sitting on the lot with a 3,000 markup to keep it there) I guess I'll be in the market for a used NSX for my next car, if I want to stick with honda.

Anyways, I fear I'm a bit off the orginal topic.

Did you test drive and Integras? Because they are actually a little bigger than the Ludes and the ITRs are faster and handle better for about the same price.

BTW Hondas are never off topic
