Ok everyone. We're going to try this out and see how it goes.

The new site (made by our very own Tony F) is up and can be found here

It should also be linked sometime tomorrow to the comparison chart and at the top of the BBS.

Let's have a round of applause for Tony. An obviously underappreciated genius.

Nice!

Are you planning on doing a neon deep or light blue lense too, or have you hit your limit with variations? The "neon" lenses look really nice. Great job.

Just one question, they way that the neon lenses glow around the edges, is that because of the button leds, or do they do that with just the VFD lit up

From DarkStorm's front page:

"Although this effect is visible in normal light, it's especially vibrant if your player has Brian Mihulka's backlit button kit installed"

If you want to see what the faces look like in different lightning conditions, please do as recommended on DarkStorm's pages and click here. Those pictures show what it looks like indoors without the backlit buttons.

Yes, he is planning on offering a neon blue. I was not supplied one to photograph, he didn't have one at the time he sent the lenses to me. I think he's planning on sending me one soon so that I can add it.

I ordered my 'smoke' lense... Great implementation of a storefront! Simple and too the point! Paypal does a great job with the $$$! Hopefully I will get a tracking number when it ships...???

It was so fun, I think I may do it again!

Well Tony got the panel yesterday and put it on his player (I don't have Brians' button kit) and it looks like you're gonna have to wait.
Apparently the Fluorescent Blue I got is not like the Neon's so right now the closest I have to that effect is the Light Blue.

I'm still looking though.

Well for it to glow like it shows on my front page in the Neon Red picture, yes.

Then again I don't know if it glows at all with the buttons off and I can't really tell with mine since my display is a little dimmer than what I see in pictures posted. And no I can't turn it up, mine's a Mark I (I don't have the money for a Mark II). And even if it wasn't dimmer I couldn't take a picture right now anyway since mine is heading over to our boys at SB to be repaired.

Maybe you could talk Tony into putting the Light Blue one on and then taking the exact same picture as he did with the Neon Red minus the button lights being on.

The photos at the comparison site (which are the same photos as when you click on the icons on the order form) already show what the faces look like without the backlit buttons. They are accurate depictions of what the panels look like in various lighting conditions.

The Fluorescent Blue that DarkStorm sent me was only barely blue at all. It was mostly just a clear panel with only the faintest hint of blue color to it. It did not alter the color of the VFD at all, and is (like the clear panel) hard to read in direct sunlight because the non-lit pixels are not darkened for increased contrast. The "edge effect" from the backlit buttons was actually less than what is visible with the "light blue" already pictured on DarkStorm's page.

The US Postal service doesn't do tracking numbers on First Class Mail.
