I guess Psion are discontinuing their USB DAB receivers?

If you use DIGITAL1WAVE as a coupon code it will reduce the price to £39.95 including P&P which isn't that bad considering it used to be £299 and now £99. Coupon is valid until 26th April. I think the offer is for the UK only I'm afraid...

I've ordered one and will see how good the quality is. Apparently it can be up to CD quality depending on how much bandwidth they give to each station in the multiplex. And the data stream is MP2.

I'm very interested in this, but I can't see where to order it from. Presumably not the Psion website?

Any help appreciated.

EDIT: For others interested, you can purchase this at http://www.psion.com/store/ . £39.44 all inclusive if you use the above coupon code - I've ordered mine.

Many thanks,

A.

Erm... It's the first link just below "Introducing the world's first Interactive Digital Radio…" You'll need to go to check out before it will let you enter the coupon code.

It is a bit, isn't it. It's been one of those days.

Many thanks to alerting me to this,

A.

Nice find.

Where'd you see the coupon code?

Paul.

Not sure where it was from originally. A friend got an email through a mailing list with it in and forwarded it to me because he knew I was looking to get a DAB receiver.

If anybody wants one that isn't in the UK then I should be able to order one for them and then ship it on to them. I don't think the US has the same standard so it probably won't work there. Europe should be okay. Check first tho...

Cheers Lads. I have been looking at these for ages. They look really cool. Much bigger than you think. Got mine ordered. Will let you know how I get on.

All there is to do it to figure how to fit it to my empeg ;-)

You're not kidding about it being bigger than you think! It's about a metre wide.

Quality is quite good for the high bitrate stations on the multiplex when I've actually got reception. Has to be very close to the window for it to work.

Neat toy anyway

I ordered mine on Friday afternoon and it arrived on Wednesday morning. The tracking system on Business Post's website is not very good.

Ordered mine Sunday, arrived Friday. Business Post's website is, as you say, pathetic. Cool gadget though - get two multiplexes here, probably three if I moved the thing to the window.

Thanks again for letting me know about this - my Dad has ordered one now

There was several days pause between ordering and getting my acknowledgement email. I was convinced that it had all gone horribly wrong.

Even though someone had already said it was bigger than it looked, it was still a shock when I opened the box.

I have line of sight to both the Crystal Palace and Reigate transmitters, so I have 5 muxes here. Not that I am ever likely to listen to anything other than the BBC mux anyway...

If anyone has just got a Wavefinder, I would recommend popping over to http://simans.worldonline.co.uk/windab/ and getting some decent software to replace the awful java based software that comes with it.

Now, if only they hadn't dumbed down the Radio 4 stream to 128k. Even through my poor PC speakers the 128k stream is a dissapointment. My portable Roberts sounds better.

I need to work out how to stream stations to my Rio Receiver now.
