I've got a question about my vid card (an ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon - not 7500 or 8500).

I've got the AIW Radeon and I use the TV display quite often.

For reasons I sort of understand, the card can only display on the TV at res up to 800x600. Any larger and you have to pan around the screen to see things.

My question is: is there any way to display that 640x480 or 800x600 on the TV while maintaining your monitor's normal resolution? I don't see why they have to be at the same res.

Offhand (Card is at home while I am at work for a while), you need to set the monitor as a different display then the TV. Thus, the monitor should be primary, and the TV secondary. The ATI control panal has an easy tab to do this in, let me check my laptop for it...

There we go, you should have options similar to this, not the primary and secondary option at the bottom. I think the AiW was similar to this. If you want to share the same output on both though, this is not possible, as the same hardware is driving both displays, thus it has to do the "virtual desktop" effect you have seen due to the TV not being able to go above 800x600.

Edit: Sigh, forgot the bbs image tag is broken. Follow this link for the image: http://riocar.org/upload/empegbbs/ativideo.png

The AIW does have a tab like that, but there's no primary secondary like you say. I don't care about having the same output on both. Actually, that would be fine if I didn't. I just want to have a normal res on my monitor while I'm displaying stuff on my TV. Is that possible?
