I checked using another remote with a fresh battery and the same thing happens: Every once and a while the player will respond to the remote randomly. I have to keep pressing buttons until I get a response. This happens even when I hold the remote up to the remote sensor. Then a few minutes later, after not touching the player, it will respond perfectly. In fact, the remote works so well I can control the unit from about 20ft away.

Thoughts?

Don't remember if you ever installed Hijack or not.

When it won't respond to the remote, what about responding to the front panel buttons? The "doesn't respond to any inputs for 20 minutes" thing is a known bug in 2.0 beta 11 that is cured by recent versions of Hijack.

This is covered here...

Also, looks like I need to update that entry to say that it's cured by Hijack...

Damn! You're having a rough week! :P

I was holding my breath in the other thread hoping everything would turn out ok - glad it did.

Thanks Suby bro. Yeah I guess it's been rough, but I've also just begun getting comfortable with everything so that now I can dive into the nitty gritty

Tony I don't have Hijack installed, just v2.0b11. And I don't remember having this problem with v1.03. The front panel buttons do respond. SHould I install Hijack and see if the problem clears up anyway? And, oh yeah, it usually responds in way less than 20min. Usually (if I'm lucky) within 5min.

There is an issue in the 2.00 software wherein the empeg will continue playing but the UI locks up for about 20 minutes. It is always the exact time lenght. We've been calling it "stuck jiffies" and Mark has fixed it in his HiJack. Many people like me never noticed anything becuause it happened when we had the player just doing it's thing and weren't selecting songs. So, maybe it was happening for 15 minutes before you noticed it was happening? If not, it is probably a seperate issue unless you've overclocked your chip!

Thanks Brad. The next time it happens I'll explore the problem more thoroughly and see if in fact this is the bug that is in reference.

Luckly it didn't happen last night as I had a couple of hotties in the back seat, exploring my "huge" music collection, on the way to a club where Donald Glaude was spinning. I'd like to report that the Empeg's unveiling was a stunning success. And yes, having a "huge" collection helped
